Nurse Practitioners
Our Nurse Practitioner (NP), Christine Bourgoin, collaborates with Dr. Hope blending the best of their considerable medical education and training with nursing disciplines to provide our patients with the highest possible level of care.
A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) who, beyond their registered nurse preparation, have obtained a graduate-level degree and completed clinical training in the diagnosis and management of both common and complex medical conditions. Nurse Practitioners hold national certification in an area of specialization and are licensed through nursing boards.
Once a new patient has been seen and evaluated, our Nurse Practitioner often serves as a patient's primary contact for any ongoing issues or concerns.
RN First Assist (RNFA)
We employ the services of RNFA assist, Monica McKinney. She is an important member of your surgical team and is a great asset in your operative experience. Monica McKinney, RNFA is involved in the management of our patient throughout the entire operative period in collaboration with Dr Hope. This includes performing preoperative evaluation, focused nursing assessment, communicating and collaborating with other health care providers regarding the patient plan of care, intraoperative surgical first-assisting and providing care during the immediate postoperative period.
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a perioperative registered nurse who functions in an expanded role in the hospital OR setting. A RNFA must be an OR nurse for 5 years before she or he can apply for their CNOR(certification as an OR Nurse). The CNOR then serves as a certified OR Nurse for 2 years before applying to enter advanced training as a RN first assist in the OR. Our RNFA offers years of experience in the operating room and plays an integral role in your operative case.
